2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trim Levels: What Chevrolet Has Confirmed

August 21st, 2026 by

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a next-generation truck offered in seven trims: Work Truck (WT), Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado, Trail Boss, High Country and ZR2. Chevrolet revealed the truck on June 16, 2026, and expects it to go on sale at the end of 2026.

Four things separate the trims. Work-focused equipment and upfit flexibility anchor the entry point. Factory suspension lifts and off-road hardware define the middle of the lineup. Premium materials mark the top. Expanded driver-assistance technology arrives on the flagship trims. Every trim shares the same digital cockpit, because the large displays are now standard across the board.

Chevrolet has not yet released horsepower, torque, payload, towing ratings or pricing. This page covers what the manufacturer has confirmed, and states clearly where information is still pending.

The trim walk narrows from nine trims to seven for 2027. Here is how the lineup breaks down, based on what Chevrolet confirmed at reveal.

What Changed for 2027: LT, RST and LTZ Are Retired

Chevrolet restructured the naming for this generation. The LT, RST and LTZ trims are gone. In their place sits a trim called simply Silverado, which Chevrolet identifies as the replacement for LT. It now anchors the core of the lineup.

The Silverado trim also picks up a meaningful piece of hardware. When configured with four-wheel drive, the Z71 package comes standard, adding skid plates, hill descent control and off-road suspension. That moves off-road hardware into the core volume trim rather than leaving it an upcharge.

Engine Options Across the 2027 Silverado 1500 Lineup

The 2027 Silverado 1500 offers four powertrains, two of them all-new, and every one of them pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet executive chief engineer Mark Dickens confirmed during the reveal media Q&A that the 2.7L TurboMax moves from an eight-speed to the 10-speed, and that the 10-speed is standard across all four powertrain options, bringing the four-cylinder in line with the rest of the range, as reported by Automotive Fleet.

The Two New V8s

Both gasoline V8s are new. Chevrolet confirms they will be assembled at GM’s Flint Engine Operations, Tonawanda Propulsion and St. Catharines Propulsion plants. GM Authority reports that both are sixth-generation Small Block designs, with the 5.7L V8 replacing the outgoing 5.3L and the 6.6L V8 replacing the 6.2L.

Chevrolet states that the Silverado 1500 now offers the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in its class. Chevrolet bases that claim on GM-estimated horsepower and torque ratings, with class defined as half-ton gasoline and diesel pickups and other GM vehicles excluded.

The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel inline-six carries forward, and Chevrolet continues to call it the only diesel in the full-size half-ton segment.

How the Engines Line Up by Trim

The most significant availability change sits at the bottom of the lineup. For the first time, the Duramax diesel can be ordered on the Work Truck. That opens the diesel to fleet and commercial buyers who previously had to move up a trim to get it. At the other end, the 6.6L V8 is limited to just two trims.

A Standard Digital Cockpit Across Every Trim

Prior model years reserved the largest displays for upper trims. The 2027 Silverado 1500 makes a 16.3-inch center display and a 12.2-inch driver information center standard on every trim, including the Work Truck.

ZR2 and High Country go further. Both come standard with an 11.5-inch front passenger screen, paired with a head-up display and a rear camera mirror. Chevrolet says that combination adds up to more than 60 inches of digital display.

Super Cruise driver-assistance technology is offered with trailering capability. Chevrolet lists it as standard on High Country and ZR2, and available on Silverado and Trail Boss. Chevrolet states that no other competitor in the class offers a hands-free driving system with trailering capability.

The Off-Road Trims: Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss and ZR2

Chevrolet expanded its off-road offering to three lifted trims for 2027.

Custom Trail Boss

Custom Trail Boss is the entry point. It pairs a 2-inch factory lift with 34-inch tires, which gives buyers factory off-road hardware without stepping up to a dedicated off-road trim.

Trail Boss

Trail Boss steps up to 34-inch mud-terrain tires, with its own 2-inch lift and a dedicated off-road hood. Inside, it offers two off-road interior themes with Torch Red-edged seatbelts and fabric accent inserts.

ZR2 and the ZR2 Bison Edition

ZR2 is the off-road flagship. It runs 35-inch mud-terrain tires, a 2-inch lift, and a dedicated off-road hood with an enhanced power dome. Front and rear electronic locking differentials are standard, and desert race-proven Multimatic DSSV dampers are paired with jounce dampers. Inside, ZR2 gets Torch Red accents and real forged carbon-fiber trim on the doors and console. Chevrolet calls it the first use of true carbon decor on ZR2, and GM’s first forged carbon application. The Duramax diesel is standard on ZR2.

The available ZR2 Bison Edition is built with American Expedition Vehicles. It adds AEV front and rear bumpers, rocker protection, and 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels. Skid plates cover the front underbody, transfer case, rear differential and fuel tank.

High Country: The Flagship Trim

High Country sits at the top of the lineup. Standard 22-inch After Midnight machine-faced wheels and an exclusive Tritan Satin grille mark it externally.

Inside, it introduces a panoramic sunroof, a first for Silverado. The cabin also offers two interior themes, real wood decor, Tritan Satin accents, Natural Tan-edged seatbelts, custom seat treatments and available microfiber suede materials. The Multi-Flex console carries a debossed High Country logo. The 5.7L V8 is standard, with the 6.6L V8 and the Duramax diesel both available.
